Projects delivered with The Hills Shire Council and Brisbane City Council recognised for community impact and on-street innovation.
SenSen has won two categories at the 2026 Parking Industry Awards, recognising projects delivered with The Hills Shire Council and Brisbane City Council.
Presented by Parking Australia in Sydney on 14 October 2026, the awards recognise excellence across the parking industry, from technology and innovation to community outcomes.
The Hills Shire Council was recognised in the Community Impact and Industry Excellence category for its approach to heavy vehicles on residential roads. Acting on concerns raised by residents, the council deployed solar-powered cameras on local roads with load limits, with council officers reviewing every case before any action is taken.
Since the first trial in April 2022, heavy vehicle movements on monitored roads have fallen from around four a day to 1.25, and community complaints have dropped from 286 to 160.
“People had approached us and actually said this is working so much better than it ever has. A resident whose home faced a camera pole asked for it to be put back.” – The Hills Shire Council
Brisbane City Council was recognised in the Excellence in Technology and Innovation (On Street) category for its SenPIC kerbside program, designed to keep accessible spaces, bus and loading zones and school drop-off areas available for the people who rely on them.
The program uses compact, solar-powered cameras installed in existing street poles, without trenching or a grid connection. Beginning as a three-camera trial in Fortitude Valley in September 2024, it became a city-wide program within nine months, with authorised council officers reviewing every alert.
“This initiative combines innovation with practical public value. It improves Council’s ability to manage regulated kerb space, supports safer and more accessible streets, and demonstrates how technology can strengthen service delivery while keeping people accountable for decisions.” – Brisbane City Council
The two wins continue SenSen’s record at the Parking Industry Awards, following wins in 2021 and 2023 and a finalist place in 2024.
SenSen congratulates all finalists and thanks Parking Australia, the judges and the sponsors, as well as the teams at The Hills Shire Council and Brisbane City Council for their partnership.
