Technology is no longer the blocker - it’s the enabler. From LPR to school zones, ticket-by-mail, and curbside compliance, AI and automation are reshaping operations
Managing on-street parking has traditionally been a mammoth task for Toronto Parking Authority (TPA), relying on manual processes and limited visibility.
SenSen deployed its AI-powered camera technology to to map and manage 60,000+ parking assets across Toronto’s streets, delivering unprecedented visibility into the parking ecosystem.
After winning the CPA Innovation in Parking Operations and Programs Award, The City of Kitchener continues to push forward with smart, scalable enforcement.
Their phased rollout of fully automated LPR and Ticket-by-Mail has expanded beyond school zones to fire routes, no-standing areas, and paid lots. This provides better coverage, fewer complaints, and a 30% increase in parking revenue.
The success at off-street properties has led the city to actively seek to expand its Ticket-by-Mail enforcement model to include curbside management using vehicle-mounted LPR or fixed LPR hardware. The city is also researching AI-enabled enforcement tools (such as curb digitization and autonomous vehicles) to provide overnight enforcement coverage. Ideal for parking leaders and city decision-makers, this session offers a practical blueprint for modernizing enforcement without overextending resources.
